Sarah Neate
Marriage and Family Therapy Graduate Student Intern
Hello! I’m Sarah, a counseling intern completing my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Florida.
Who I am. I’m a deeply curious and growth-minded person who is on a journey of radical self-acceptance and love. This journey is not easy, and oppressive systems like ableism, white supremacy, colonialism, heterosexism, classism, and misogyny make the journey harder for us all. I believe that every single person has superpowers—attributes and gifts that are uniquely and authentically their own. It would be my joy to collaborate with you on your path away from pain, fear, and shame and towards self-acceptance, growth, and delight.
My areas of passion. As Esther Perel says, “The quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives.” I primarily focus on relational counseling, with a special passion for working with romantic partners (ethically nonmonogamous and monogamous, intercultural and interfaith), as well as sexual identity, expression, and pleasure. I also enjoy working with disordered eating and with religious and spiritual trauma. No matter what brings you into the room with me, know that you will be met with curiosity, warmth, and openness.
How I approach counseling. I am passionate about trauma-informed, non-pathologizing, collaborative and relational approaches to therapy. Even when working with individual clients, I’m looking through a systemic and contextual lens, acknowledging that community, connection, and integration of the bodymind are crucial to healing. I utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic experiencing, as well as a strengths-based and Relational Cultural (RCT) lens.
You can contact me directly at 317-207-0269. I look forward to hearing from you!
