Hello and Welcome!
I'm Katie and I am a Licensed Mental Health and Marriage and Family Therapist. I specialize in emotional and relational health, particularly helping people feel more secure and at ease with themselves and others. I help improve self-esteem/self-compassion, reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, and heal from emotional and relational trauma.
One of my favorite offerings is helping couples overcome infidelity, a common and misunderstood issue in relationships. I also love helping couples improve their communication, resolve conflict, overcome trust issues, and gain deeper intimacy.
Another of my major contributions is helping adults heal from childhood trauma. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an effective and efficient, evidence-based treatment for trauma. I consider it "surgery" for emotional and relational "injuries" that continue to affect the present.
Finally, I really enjoy helping people of all ages understand themselves. I grew up curious, wondering, "Why do people do the things they do?" I use an experiential therapy that explores our dynamic inner world in such a way that gives names and roles to the various parts of our personality. Becoming familiar with these parts and their roles reveals a story of your unique development and corresponding magnificence. I find that there is a valid reason for our emotions and behaviors. Often, our lived experience burdens us with developing protective mechanisms that can then inhibit our present and future lives and relationships. This therapy, called Internal Family Systems (IFS), provides a structure to explore one's inner world. Embodying curiosity, we understand the roles and relationships among our parts and learn to appreciate parts for the roles they took on for our sense of safety and security. Understanding helps us recognize when parts are burdened from the past and gives the opportunity to release parts of their burdening roles so that they can serve in more desirable and fulfilling ways. This is certainly one of my favorite ways of facilitating emotional and relational wellbeing. It is also a wonderful way to improve our relationships with other people as the work we do internally often reflects externally.
Ultimately, I help people attend to their insecurities - such as not feeling good enough, shame, fears, regrets, resentments, insecure attachments, etc. Insecurities that I, myself, have felt and had to work through using these approaches. Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern (RMHCI)

Hello! I'm Gina, and I'm a Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern and Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. I completed my Masters in Education and Education Specialists degree at the University of Florida, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. I am currently earning hours toward licensure and training in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).
I am a collaborative, affirming, and strengths-based clinician who enjoys working with clients from all backgrounds and stages of life. Child or an adult, couple or family, traditional or non, my goal is for my clients to feel seen, safe, and respected in our work. I view my role as a therapist as the container holder and a collaborative partner. I work diligently to ensure my clients feel safe to explore whatever topics may be relevant to their concerns.
As a systemic therapist, that means that addressing diversity, gender, power, and other sociocultural dimensions is also an inherent part of my work. I may bring up connections that you might not have considered. I utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and the enneagram to facilitate intra- and inter-personal awareness, self-acceptance, empathy, and connection. Your story matters, and your diverse experiences are valid, welcome, and important parts of your work.
I truly look forward to working with you.

Rafaella Leathers, EdS
Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern (RMHCI)

Hi! My name is Rafaella Leathers (Raf) and I am a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. I completed both my bachelors and my masters at the University of Florida and have continued to call Gainesville home for many years now. As each year passes, I continue to grow and learn so much about myself and others. I believe that to be human is to feel, many things, probably all at once, and to hold space for everything we are and all that comes up. I strongly believe that emotions need a witness, another fellow human to remind us that we are not alone.
I am a therapist that collaborates and works with you and believes you are the expert in your life. I am always honored that I get to see and share the complexities of feelings and emotions with those I work with. I operate from a place of relationship- one of the best and most healing tools. I’m a very strength-based and person-centered therapist that incorporates a variety of therapeutic techniques to best hold space for you.
As someone who is very familiar with therapy itself, I know what it feels like to sit on the other side of the room and I strongly value giving you a sense of autonomy as well. I’m a never-ending student myself when it comes to personal growth and the relationships we have with ourselves and those around us. I have spent my clinical experiences so far at Pace Center for Girls and UF Shands Psychiatric Hospital in the Vista West unit. Both of these sites have allowed me to work with diverse populations and have shaped me into the counselor I am today. I work with adults who are carrying grief, anxiety, depression, traumas, and many other struggles. My hope is that I can provide a space for those struggles to be witnessed, validated, and used as fertilizer for growth. I’d love to join you in your journey towards embracing both the beautiful and painful complexities of being human.
